A job with purpose and a future – training at SWK

The new trainees at SWK Versorgungs-AG started at the beginning of August. At the same time, the application period for the following year is already underway. What makes training at SWK attractive?

The professional world and workplaces are changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence and automation are omnipresent. We are therefore pleased that SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern offers orientation, stability and a sense of purpose. This makes us an attractive employer, especially for trainees.

Shaping our own future together

SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern is the leading energy service provider in the region. We provide people with a reliable supply of energy. We keep things running – from the fridge at home to the charging station for electric cars and street lighting.

Master plumber and heating engineer Patric Pitschi trains technical apprentices at SWK. “It’s a good feeling when you help people with your work. After all, we supply them smoothly with electricity, natural gas, heat and water. Daily and reliably.”

“It makes even more sense when we look at the energy transition,” emphasizes Patric Pitschi. “Our trainees learn about new technologies. This helps us save resources. We protect the environment sustainably. In this way, we are actually actively shaping our own future step by step. This is relevant for young people. Ultimately, they are setting the course for their own quality of life.”

Even at school, the strengths, talents and interests of the next generation of employees are distributed very differently. Some blossom when it comes to formulas and numbers or learn languages easily. Other pupils prefer handicrafts, physics or sport.

This is exactly where SWK comes in. We provide training in both technical and commercial professions. In this way, we cover a whole range of interests. We offer trainees an environment in which they can develop their own strengths in a targeted manner.

In commercial training, trainees are involved in projects right from the start. They can develop their organizational skills. SWK offers training as an industrial clerk (m/f/d) and as an office clerk for office management (m/f/d).

The technical apprentices start in the workshop. There they learn about different materials, tools and techniques. They become proven experts in the fields of electricity, water, heat and natural gas. The aspects of sustainability and environmental protection are playing an increasingly important role. The following technical apprenticeships are currently on offer: Plant mechanic for pipe system technology (m/f/d) and electronics technician for industrial engineering (m/f/d).

The “hot wire” is a good example of the use of different techniques and materials. The SWK trainees planned and constructed it from A to Z. The exciting game requires a steady hand. It never fails to delight young and old at various events.

We are a team - fun at work

“Cohesion is a priority for us,” emphasizes Jeanette Moßmann, HR Officer at SWK. That was already the case during my own training and has remained so to this day. It’s not for nothing that our employee recruitment campaign bears the motto “SWK Team”. The team spirit is alive and well at SWK. Our recruiting campaign was born from within – from our deep conviction. Authenticity and credibility are important to us. That’s why our trainees are also involved – with a lot of fun – as the faces of the campaign. They stand for the future of SWK.

Application deadline for the 2026 training program is 31.10.2025

With the end of the school year and the issuing of school reports, the application period for the 2026 training year has begun. HR officer Karim Meskine cordially invites school leavers from the region: “Apply to SWK! Regardless of the type of school, you can discover a wide range of apprenticeships with us.”

Further information, descriptions of the apprenticeships and tips for a successful application can be found on the SWK website at swk-kl.de/ausbildung
