This makes science fun for everyone!

Experiencing science up close in the region – that’s what we at SWK want to experience. That’s why we are supporting the new Kammgarn + SWK x Science event series, which started in March 2025.

Together with SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern, Kammgarn Kaiserslautern presents fascinating live experiments, unusual lectures and new entertaining formats. Science should be presented in an exciting and interactive way for people in the region, from young to old. With a pinch of humor.

The first events have already been a success

The kick-off event “die Physikanten” on March 13 in the well-attended Kammgarn was a great success. The second event in the series took place on May 24. Professor Bummbastic” also focused on spectacular experiments. This time, however, the focus was on kids and teenagers. There were lots of bangs and flashes on stage.

The Physikanten, led by graduate physicist Marcus Weber, thrilled the diverse audience. Massive 200-liter barrels collapsed with a loud bang and music was played with laser beams. The mixture of science, comedy and variety was very well received.

Raphael Oldani, alias “Professor Bummbastic”, also succeeded in doing this, packing exciting knowledge into thrilling wow effects. Smoke rings flew through the air, clouds appeared out of nowhere and robots appeared on stage. Professor Bummbastic brought science to life for the whole family. Entertaining and exciting. The faces of the visitors proved it: This makes chemistry and physics really fun!

Science Year 2025 focuses on the energy of the future

Since 2000, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has been organizing the Science Years together with partners from science, education and culture. The initiative aims to promote exchange between research and the public. The motto for 2025 is: “Future energy – what will our energy supply of tomorrow look like”

In keeping with this, SWK supports Kammgarn Kaiserslautern as the main sponsor and is expanding science communication in the region.

Five different events - spread throughout the year

Three more dates will follow in the series. Technology and science fiction fans can look forward to the lecture by Dr. Hubert Zitt. He will show how Star Trek visions become technical reality. Page Christmas lectures at the TU Kaiserslautern enjoy legendary status for good reason. The program also includes a science slam with unconventional and compact 10-minute presentations. The 2025 series of events will feature science cabaret, with Vince Ebert presenting satire to make you laugh and think. The eclectic mix of individual events makes the series an experience for many interests and all age groups.

“Inspiring people - that's a great task for SWK”
