Doorstep selling. Beware of dubious competitors!
Unfortunately, dubious competitors or scammers repeatedly pretend to be employees of SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern. Isabell Legrom, Head of Sales at SWK, gives valuable tips on how to protect yourself.

Be vigilant and well prepared in case our rogue representatives turn up on your doorstep. The following tips will help you:
How can you recognize genuine employees of SWK Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern?
- SWK employees can clearly identify themselves with their official ID card. Always ask to see it. In addition to the SWK logo and ID number, the ID card also shows the name and picture of the employee. If in doubt, you can easily verify the visit by calling SWK.
- We announce visits: We will inform you of appointments in advance in writing or by telephone. Question unexpected visits critically.
- Our employees never request cash payments or bank transfers or ask for account details at the front door. You will only receive our invoices via official channels.
- We do not conclude our contracts at the front door or by telephone. Please do not hand over any personal data or invoices.
How dubious providers want to gain your trust
Attention! The mere claim that a person is acting on behalf of SWK is not sufficient proof of serious intent. Many con artists use the following approach to gain your trust.
– “Hello, we’re from SWK…”
– “Hello, we are here on behalf of SWK…”
– “We work together with SWK…”
– “We have taken over the territory of SWK…”
– “As a long-standing SWK customer, you will receive a bonus on your last statement when you sign a new contract…”
In this way, the dubious providers want you to sign contracts with other suppliers with your signature or telephone promise. Caution: Your contracts with SWK will be terminated as a result of this action!
We want to protect our customers and SWK’s good reputation. That is why we have been taking legal action against such attempts at poaching for years.
Protect yourself - this is what you can do if there is suspicion!
If you have the feeling that something is wrong, you can act as follows.
- Don’t let anyone into your house or apartment: keep your distance and don’t let anyone persuade you to do anything. Professional SWK employees are understanding and will not pressure you to do anything.
- Check your identity: Always ask to see your ID.
- Give us a call. Do not let the potential fraudsters give you a telephone number. Only call our official telephone number 0631 8001-1200 (Customer Service Center). You can also reach us by e-mail at vertrieb@swk-kl.de Important: Dial the number yourself and use your own telephone.
- Do not sign anything. Take your time and don’t make a spontaneous decision. Signatures are never a “mere formality”.
- If you are alone, order the visitor to return at a later time if a person you know is present.
- If you suspect that fraudsters are operating in our name, please inform us in any case. If possible, make a note of the name, company and contact details of the person concerned. This will enable us to react quickly and effectively to protect you and other customers.
- If you have suspicious intentions, you can of course also call the police .

Prevention is the best protection
Be vigilant when it comes to your security. Con artists are cunning and clever. Listen to your gut feeling. Stay well informed and be vigilant. We keep you constantly informed on various channels and answer your questions. Follow our news here in the blog, ideally also use the SWK app with daily news and read your mail from SWK carefully.
Anyone who has prematurely concluded a contract can usually revoke it in writing within 14 days.
This advice does not only apply to door-to-door sales. You should also be careful with offers by e-mail, telephone or on the Internet. If in doubt, contact us. We will be happy to help you!
